What a brand identity kit includes: a practical checklist
A logo is one file. A brand identity is the set of files and rules that makes the logo look the same on a phone screen, a shop sign and an invoice. Use this checklist to judge any kit, ours included.
1. The logo set
- Primary logo: the symbol with the name, the version you use most.
- Symbol alone: for app icons, profile pictures and favicons, where a name is too small to read.
- Wordmark: the name in its typeface, for places where the symbol is not needed.
- One-colour versions: black, white and a single brand colour, for stamps, embroidery and engraving.
- Arabic and English versions, if you trade in both languages.
2. File formats
| Format | Use it for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| SVG | Websites, signs, any resizing | Vector: sharp at every size, small file |
| PDF (vector) | Printers and sign makers | Keeps vector shapes and exact colours |
| PNG, transparent | Slides, documents, video, social media | Pixels with a see-through background |
| JPG | Photos and mockups | Small files, no transparency |
3. Colour
A palette of two to five colours, each with HEX and RGB codes for screens and CMYK values for print. Note which colour is for backgrounds, which for text and which is the accent, and check text and background pairs for contrast: the WCAG 2.2 minimum for normal text is 4.5 : 1.
4. Typography
One typeface for headings and one for text, in each script you use. Check the licence before you print or embed a font: fonts on Google Fonts are published under open licences such as the SIL Open Font License, which allows commercial use.
5. Usage rules
- Clear space around the logo, often measured by a letter or a part of the symbol.
- Minimum size for print and for screens.
- Do and don’t examples: no stretching, recolouring, outlines or busy backgrounds.
- Placement on photos and on dark and light backgrounds.
6. Everyday applications
- Profile and cover images for each social platform you use.
- Business card, letterhead (A4 is 210 × 297 mm, defined in ISO 216) and email signature.
- Presentation and document templates, if you send many proposals.

Questions
What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity?
The logo is the mark itself. A brand identity is the system around it: logo versions, colours, typefaces, usage rules and ready-made files, so everything you publish looks consistent.
Do I need a full identity to start?
Not always. A logo kit with vector files and colour codes is enough to launch. Add guidelines and templates when several people, printers or agencies start using your brand.
Which file formats should a logo come in?
At least SVG (vector), a PNG with a transparent background and a vector PDF for print, each in colour and in black and white.
Can I get brand guidelines in Arabic?
Yes. Phiora’s full brand identity includes a brand guidelines PDF in English and Arabic.
